If you’ve ever thought that raising your babies or taking delight in them isn’t “enough”, then let me tell you otherwise. The Lord sees you: stumbling towards the coffeemaker, carrying their heavy little bodies, standing behind the stove at the end of a long day, tucking them in for bed and giving out goodnight kisses. He sees you in all of that and ALL the moments in between. He is SO proud of you and the way you serve your family day in and day out. ⠀
⠀
In the Bible study I’ve been attending we’ve been talking a lot about moms as legacy builders. I can tell you from experience that your children and your grandchildren will notice and remember it. However, you will likely not feel appreciated or as seen as you would maybe like to each day.⠀
⠀
I’ve been thinking about the way my grandmother’s faith and service to her family impacted me. Three generations of believers descend from her because of her great love for her Redeemer. She intentionally pressed forward even when it felt impossible.⠀
⠀
I not only watched my grandmother serve, but also saw her read her Bible. It was always out on their dining room table and just because I was in the room, didn’t mean she put it away. She kept right on reading because it was important. She put the important above the chaos and the urgent. ⠀
⠀
I don’t know about you, but if I waited for a completely silent, picture perfect quiet time, then it would NEVER happen. Instead, because of my grandmother, I break out my study in the middle of the playroom and let my kids play around me while I dig into the Word. The best part is ALL the questions I get and the conversations that flow from just one simple act. ⠀
⠀
SO go ahead, stop for a minute to yourself and open up your Bible. Do it alone, or in front of the kids. But prioritize it so you can get on to building. You have a legacy to begin.
