In the wee hours of the night I had the incredible privilege of photographing the birth of this sweet couple’s miracle baby. After multiple miscarriages following the loss of their 3 year old nephew to cancer, God has given this family one of His greatest gifts: new LIFE; second only to His gift to us on the cross. During the midst of all their trials and tragedies, they remained firm in their faith in Christ as their redeemer. They never doubted but continued to praise Him and say He is always good. ⠀

A few months ago I just felt that I was supposed to photograph this special family’s labor story. I’ve done photo shoots here and there over the years but nothing quite as intimate or intense as child birth. I was so nervous they’d think I was crazy or say no, but they didn’t.

I’m so glad I was obedient to God’s call because I will treasure that magical night forever. Who knows what this shoot will evolve into? Is there even a market for birth photography here in Charlotte? I’m not sure, but I know it felt right for me. It felt so good to document a story that shows God’s miracles in the every day (because sometimes we forget).

It is a great honor to know this family and witness them walk it all out in unwavering faith. Thank you so much for allowing me to be present and capture this unforgettable moment in your journey. Your baby boy has been gifted with the most extraordinary parents and village. My most heartfelt congratulations to you and your family. ⠀

“Lord, you light my lamp; my God illuminates my darkness. With you I can attack a barricade, and with my God I can leap over a wall. God- his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is pure. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. For who is God besides the Lord? Who is a rock? Only our God. God- he clothes me with strength.” Psalm 18:23-32

“Truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice. You will become sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy. When a woman is in labor, she has pain because her time has come. But when she has given birth to a child, she no longer remembers the suffering because of the joy that a person has been born into the world.” John 16:20-21⠀

“Jesus spoke these things, looked up to heaven, and said: “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you, since you gave him authority over all flesh, so that he may give eternal life to everyone you have given him. This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent- Jesus Christ.” John 17:1-3 ⠀
